Adrian Edmondson among cast for new Josh Azouz play at Almeida Theatre

Casting has been announced for Josh Azouz’s new play, Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia at London’s Almeida Theatre

Adrian Edmondson is among cast announced for the world premiere of Josh Azouz’s new play, Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia at London’s Almeida Theatre.

He will be joined by Laura Hanna, Ethan Kai, Pierro Niel-Mee, Yasmin Paige and Daniel Rainford for the production which runs from 21 August to 18 September, with opening night on 26 August.

Directed by Eleanor Rhode, it is set in a labour camp in Nazi-occupied Tunisia in 1943. It is described as a “brutally comic” play about “home and identity, marriage and survival and blood and feathers”.

It features design by Max Johns, lighting design by Jess Bernberg, sound design by David Gregory and casting by Ginny Schiller.

Azouz’s previous plays include The Mikvah Project at the Orange Tree Theatre and Buggy Baby at the Yard Theatre.
