The Apollo Victoria Theatre is located on Wilton Road opposite Victoria Station.

Originally opened as a cinema and variety theatre, the theatre is now a musical theatre venue having housed long-running productions of The Sound Of Music (1981), Starlight Express (1984 – 2002) and currently Wicked the musical (2006 – ).

The Apollo Victoria was built by architect Lewis and William Edward Trent in 1929. Designed in the Art Deco style there is a noticeable nautical theme in the interiors. The theatre was Grade II listed in June 1972.

The venue became a home for rock concerts from 1976 to 1980 playing host to acts such as ELO, Cliff Richard, Janis Ian and Peter Gabriel.

Musicals including The Sound Of Music, Camelot and Fiddler played at the theatre in the 1980’s before Andrew Lloyd Webber’s epic Starlight Express moved into the venue for 18 years. When Starlight Express closed the theatre underwent extensive renovation re-opening with Bombay Dreams on 19 June 2002, a short season of Movin’ Out, Saturday Night Fever then on 27 September 2006 Wicked started a long term occupancy.
