Faye Tozer and Kevin Clifton among cast for Singin’ in the Rain

Faye Tozer, Kevin Clifton, Sandra Dickinson, Michael Matus, Charlotte Gooch and Cavin Cornwall are among cast joining Adam Cooper in Singin’ in the Rain at Sadler’s Wells in London

Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton and Steps singer Faye Tozer are among cast joining Singin’ in the Rain at Sadler’s Wells in London.

Clifton will play the hero Don Lockwood’s sidekick, Cosmo Brown, while Tozer will play silent movie star Lina Lamont. Also announced today are Charlotte Gooch as Kathy Seldon and Cavin Cornwall as film producer RF Simpson.

Other casting includes Sandra Dickinson as Dora Bailey, Michael Matus as Roscoe Dexter and Imogen Brook as Zelda Zanders.

They join the previously announced Adam Cooper who is reprising the role of Don Lockwood that won him acclaim at Chichester Festival Theatre and London’s Palace Theatre.

The production will play a strictly limited run at Sadler’s Wells from 30 July to 5 September 2021 ahead of a 2022 UK tour. Casting for the tour is yet to be announced.

The ensemble will feature Briana Craig, Alistair Crosswell, Lavinia Fitzpatrick, Alex Given, Ryan Gover, Ashleigh Graham, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Molly Rees Howe, Thomas Inge, Robin Kent, Sam Lips, Joshua Lovell, George Lyons, Heather Scott Martin, Amonik Melaco, Ashleigh Morris, Peter Nash, Megan Spiers and Ellie May Wilson.

It is directed by Jonathan Church with choreography by Andrew Wright, design by Simon Higlett and lighting by Tim Mitchell. Casting is by Stuart Burt. It is based on the classic MGM movie, with an original screenplay and adaptations by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

It features songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, including “Make ‘em Laugh”, “Good Morning”, “Moses Supposes”, “You Stepped Out of a Dream”, “You Are My Lucky Star”, “You Were Meant For Me” and “Singin’ in the Rain”.

This production of Singin’ in the Rain opened at Chichester Festival Theatre in 2011 and extended due to public demand before a transfer to London which gained four Olivier Award nominations.
