Full casting has been announced for Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage at the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End
Michael O’Reilly and Kira Malou are returning to the lead roles of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage when it runs in London’s West End.
They both joined the show, playing Johnny and Baby, for the 2018 tour and reprised the roles for the 2021 tour.
They are part of the cast announced for the West End run of the show at the Dominion Theatre from 2 February to 16 April 2022.
The 2022 cast will feature other performers from the tour including Carlie Milner as Penny, Lynden Edwards as Dr Jake Houseman, Lizzie Ottley as Lisa Houseman, Colin Charles as Tito Suarez and Lori Hayley Fox as Mrs Houseman.
The cast will also include Samuel Bailey, Michael Remick, Thomas Sutcliffe, Mark Faith, Mimi Rodrigues Alves, Danielle Cato, Danielle Lockwood, Marie Finlayson, Sasha Woodward, Sophia McAvoy, James McHugh, Benjamin Harrold, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Niko Wirachman, Charlotte Olliffe, Patricia Wilkins, Austin Wilks, Lee Nicholson, Oliver Adam-Reynolds, Miles Russell, Tom Parsons, James William-Pattison, Simon Williams and Christopher Fry.
The production, described as a “dazzling renewed version”, marks 35 years since the classic film premiered and features the much-loved characters and original dialogue from the film as well as extra scenes.
The music includes the hit songs Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me? and (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.
Based on the original 1987 script by Eleanor Bergstein, the show is directed by Federico Bellone. The creative team also includes choreographer Austin Wilks, lighting designer Valerio Tiberi, sound designer Armando Vertullo and supervising musical director Richard John. It is produced by Karl Sydow.
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage originally opened at London’s Aldwych Theatre in 2006 and played to over two million people during its five-year run. After the first-ever UK tour in 2011, it returned to the West End in 2013 playing at the Piccadilly Theatre before going on a second UK and Ireland tour. A further tour and West End run came in 2016/17, followed by more tours in 2018/19 and 2021.
