Drag performer and cabaret producer ShayShay is bringing drag parody Mulan Rouge to The Vaults in London. Tickets are on sale now

Ahead of musical Moulin Rouge coming to London’s West End, get ready for drag spectacular Mulan Rouge coming to The Vaults.
The Vaults next to London Waterloo is collaborating with drag performer and cabaret producer ShayShay for a new immersive “drag-tastic parody” inspired by both Disney’s Mulan and Baz Luhrmann’s film, Moulin Rouge.
The London venue will be transformed into the “infamous Mulan Rouge”, described as “a scandalous haven of dancing and naughty delights”. The show will run from 7 October, with opening night on 14 October. Casting is still to be announced but tickets are already on sale.
The show will fuse comedy and burlesque with a “feast” and cocktails, with a cabaret of fabulous kings and queens, taking audiences on Mulan’s journey of self-discovery.
The publicity explains: “Across the lands, a terrifying whisper is taking hold: The Huns are preparing to attack! Mulan disguises themself as a man to join the war effort, but when their regiment commandeers the glittering Mulan Rouge, they find themself surrounded by glitz, glamour and go-go girls. Come what may, Mulan’s identity must be kept secret to defeat The Huns and defend the honour of the Mulan Rouge. Though when they meet a girl worth fighting for, will the whole plan go up in smoke?”
It is written and directed by ShayShay whose previous shows include Judy Garland tribute Good Judy. It is designed by Christine Ting – Huan Urquhart with lighting design by Clancy Flynn, choreography by Alissa James plus food and menu designed by Haydn Holme-Slater. It is produced by The Vaults.
Guests are asked to come in their “finest glam and armour” and to “dress to impress” for “a hot Paris night in the Mulan Rouge”.
Mulan Rouge will open ahead of the official stage musical adaptation of Moulin Rouge which begins its run at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on 12 November 2021.
