Principal casting has been announced for Heathers the Musical in the West End, led by Christina Bennington and Jordan Luke Gage. Book Heathers The Musical tickets now.

The duo will play the lead roles of high school geek Veronica Sawyer and dark and moody teen Jason Dean (JD) – the characters played by Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in the original 1989 movie.

The three members of the Heathers will be Jodie Steele, returning to her critically acclaimed portrayal of “mega bitch” Heather Chandler, alongside Bobbie Little as Heather Duke and Frances Mayli McCann as Heather McNamara.

They are joined by Lauren Ward as Fleming and Veronica’s Mother, Madison Swan as Martha, Simon Bailey as Ram’s Dad, Big Bud Dean and Coach, Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Ram Sweeney and Steven Serlin as Kurt’s Dad, Veronica’s Dad and Principal Gowan. Further casting for the West End run will be announced “in due course”.

Produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills, this black-comedy rock musical will return to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End for a strictly limited 12-week run from 21 June to 11 September 2021, with opening night on 28 June.

After its original London premiere at The Other Palace in August 2018, Heathers the Musical ran from September to November at the Theatre Royal Haymarket later that year.

Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy’s adaptation of the film enjoyed successful runs in Los Angeles and New York ahead of the UK productions, directed by its original Off-Broadway director, Andy Fickman. Choreography is by Gary Lloyd, design by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound by Dan Samson.

In parallel to the show’s return to the West End, the musical will also embark on its first tour of the UK and Ireland in a separate production with a different cast. It will open at Leeds Grand Theatre on 28 July 2021.

Heathers the Musical follows Westerburg High’s Veronica Sawyer who joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel clique, the Heathers, in the hope of achieving her dream of becoming popular. However, mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her there may be another way, leading her down a deadly new path.
