Mamma Mia! The Party – the theatrical dining experience – has confirmed it will return to The O2 London on 1 October. Book tickets now!

Booking through to 3 April 2022, it offers themed dining in the immersive setting of a taverna on the Greek island of Skopelos, where most of the exteriors of the first Mamma Mia! film were shot.

It features a cast bringing Abba’s songs to life with a show during the meal, telling the stories of restaurant owners, Nikos and his wife Kate, and their family and friends. Casting is to be announced.

The show, which includes a four-course meal followed by an Abba disco, premiered in Stockholm in 2016 before coming to London in 2019. After being closed because of Covid restrictions, it reopens at The O2 in October with a new menu, featuring Greek dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus, who is executive producer, said: “Mamma Mia! is a genuine, feel-good story and I always thought the much-loved stage show and movies had a party feel to them, so I created a unique dining experience that really captures that spirit.

“Mamma Mia! The Party has worked out even better than I imagined and I have a feeling that now people want to get out with friends and party more than ever….”

Mamma Mia! The Party has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, plus some songs with Stig Anderson, and a story by Calle Norlén, Roine Söderlundh and Björn Ulvaeus, adapted for the UK by writer, comedian and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig.

It is co-directed and choreographed by Stacey Haynes and Roine Söderlundh, with set design by Bengt Fröderberg, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, costume design by Annsofi Nyberg, music supervision by Robin Svensson and casting by David Grindrod for David Grindrod Associates. It is produced by Sally Davies for U-Live.

Hit musical Mamma Mia! reopens at London’s Novello Theatre on 25 August 2021, booking through to 2 April 2022.
